I bought it to drive and refresh
or restore, but decided I didn't need another project and this
kind of driving excitement. I have a 356 that is about my speed.
Car was put on ebay with good response and was sold within 3
days. Car was shipped to Connecticut. Heard it was for sale again,
but considerably higher price. Below is part of description used
in ebay auction.
My first Porsche was a 1969 911T so couldn't resist
picking this time capsule from the '70s. I purchased it from
second owner. Car originally from Reno till 1990, then second
owner moved to Montana and took up hunting. Mileage is 111,000
and second owner put on only about 12,000 of those miles. For
those not familiar with this model, it is the 2.2 engine (125
hp) with Triple throat Zenith carburetors and five-speed 901
transmission. If you like revving you will love this model. And
of course the old 911-engine sound is mechanical music.
Overall the car has a great "patina". Original
"S" trim and gauges. Electrical and all switches, and
lights work. Blaupunt AM not operating, but lights. Needs fuel
gauge sender. Body - no rust found anywhere and no collision
damage or repaint. Underside shows no dents or marks, just original
undercoating. Paint is original factory delivered Tangerine (2323),
has a few rock chips on hood and a couple of blemishes on door.
All chrome and trim in amazingly good shape and original. Doors
fit and close like they came from factory. Even the rubber trim
is in good shape with only a few pieces that could stand refreshing
(deck seal). Interior is original and in good original shape
with driver's seat showing wear with small tear in bottom and
patch on top side. Sheepskins protected seats well over the years.
Original carpet shows some wear. Floor mats protected most of
carpet, upper left quarter worn. The headliner in good shape
with only some age spots showing. Door pockets in good shape.
Driver side rear pocket droops.
Engine and Transmission strong with recent complete
fuel system rebuild.. Some oil leaks, but most of leaks from
non-use have been solved. Recent tune-up, engine tope and bottom
steam cleaned. It has original Jack, Owner's Manual and Factory
Service Record Book plus radio book - sorry no tool kit, but
old style silver car cover with Porsche silkscreen on bag and
cover itself. Has 15x6 original alloys polished - spare is original
black insert accent.
